Branding /ˈbrandiNG/: the promotion of a particular product or company by means of advertising and distinctive design.
By promoting a product and/or company, you are building the company’s image in a way that helps attract and or helps maintain loyal customers. This should be every company’s goal since the consumers can make or break a company. Another importance of branding is it can differentiate your company from your competitors. In many cases two different companies can be selling the same product but the company who has the greater success with the consumers is the one who brands their product more effectively. An example of this is how the company Johnson and Johnson has branded their product so efficiently that the term “Bandaid” has turned into the generic term for bandage. Even though bandages are very similar in quality, Johnson and Johnson has created an image in consumer’s minds that makes their product seem more superior than other bandages. Overall a product is able to sell itself when its branding status is high quality.
